Gabe Walker (Sylvester Stallone) is the leader of a mountain rescue team who loses his nerve after witnessing his climbing buddy Hal's (Michael Rooker) girlfriend fall to her death in one of the most exciting and palm-sweating opening scenes.
When a group of ingenious outlaws headed by the charismatic psychopath Eric Qualen (brilliantly played by John Lithgow) survive a plane crash, they take the unknowing mountain rescue team hostage and force them to help find their lost $100 million stash.
The only one who can save them is Walker, who must overcome his fears and climb the mountain to take on the well-armed gang on his own.
