City Beneath The Sea (1953)

Gung-ho Caribbean adventure. Robert Ryan and Anthony Quinn star as deep-sea divers Brad Carlton and Tony Bartlett recruited by Dwight Trevor to recover £1m of gold sunk when Port Royal, Jamaica, was hit by an earthquake in 1692. But Trevor only wants them to find the gold - once they uncover it, he intends to dispose of them. Love interest for the leads comes from Terry McBride, feisty owner of a steamer, and bar-singer Venita, while the earthquakes that top and tail the film are prime examples of the special effects of the time.
