This gory biopic - about the life of notorious Australian criminal turned best-selling author Mark "Chopper" Read - is quite extraordinary and highly innovative. Comedian and Hulk star Eric Bana (pictured) plays Read; he gives everything to the role with an extraordindary bravura performance.
The film chronicles Read's time in prison, where his best friend turned against him after a violent encounter with a crime boss. On his release years later, Read sets out to seek vengeance against his erstwhile friend and other enemies, while simultaneously trying to keep an eye on his prostitute girlfriend.
Released in 2000 and directed by Andrew Dominik, it's a sensational ride, not for the faint-hearted.
