Director Michael Winner's most famous movie was the "vigilante" genre-creating revenge film Death Wish. It prompted countless carbon copies, the quality of which were often poor including the sequels Winner himself made: The terrible Death Wish II and the ugly Death Wish III.
Two other notable films Winner made before his big success were the entertaining action film The Mechanic and the the bleak Western Chato's Land, both of which star Charles Bronson.
Chato's Land tells the story of Chato (Charles Bronson), a half-breed Apache, who is on the run from a 13-man posse, because a man he killed in self-defence was the town Sheriff. Vowing to avenge the death of their fallen constable, the posse follow Chato into the wilderness. Living off the land, he outwits the riders tracking him, picking them off one by one.
