Horror classic in which a woman's mysterious Serbian origins hide a deadly curse which threatens to destroy all those close to her. When aroused by passion or anger, the woman transforms into a black panther. Unable to consummate their marriage, her husband strays, thus enraging his wife. One of the most successful of all B-movies, a sequel, Curse of the Cat People, followed in 1944, and a remake in 1982.
