Scientific thriller about a medical researcher's quest to halt a mysterious deadly virus that has broken out in a heavily populated US city. Her investigation takes her to Africa and to a desperate mother searching for her missing daughters, the only survivors of the illness. The two women soon begin to suspect that the girls are victims of a sinister alliance between greedy pharmaceutical companies and corrupt authorities.
