This tight, taut 1976 thriller, based on the novel by Thomas Harris, is tremendous. Superbly directed by John Frankenheimer, it clips along at a terrific pace, following demented war veteran (Bruce Dern) as he plans to kill thousands of spectators at the Super Bowl football game in Miami, using a special gun from a blimp flying above the stadium.
Israeli and American intelligence agencies have uncovered the plot, and led by Mossad agent David Kabakov (Robert Shaw) and FBI agent Sam Corley (Fritz Weaver), they're determined to stop him. The film features a number of outstanding set pieces, the blimp/police helicopter chase towards the end being especially impressive. Highly recommended.
