Science-fiction writer Bo Aikens, bored with his vacuous life in LA, heads for the small, idyllic town of Black River, where everyone's happy, except for one noisy redneck - and even he's soon rendered docile. At first, Aikens is happy - he finds a beautiful house, a great job and love with the gorgeous Laura. But stifled by the town's perfection, he tries to leave, only for mysterious circumstances to prevent his departure and suddenly a town full of happy people becomes a place of sinister danger... Jeff Bleckner's dark movie, based on Dean Koontz's story, has been compared favourably to The Stepford Wives and The Prisoner and the ending is satisfyingly smart and unexpected.
