One day, at a travelling carny,Josh makes a wish at a fortune telling machine and the next morning he wakes up as an adult, played by Oscar-nominated Tom Hanks. Once he manages to get out of the house, he contacts his best friend Billy who helps him out, but kids only have so much money. Luckily, his childish ways win him a job with MacMillan Toys whose owner soon advances him up the corporate ladder, though his colleague Susan can't quite understand why he doesn't respond to her advances. But after a while Josh realises he misses home and the joys that growing up will hold and he sets out to find the fortune telling machine in order to restore his age.
