Bette Midler stars as CC Bloom, a pop star rehearsing for her big Hollywood show. But when she receives an unexpected phone call, she drops everything and travel post haste to San Francisco and the bedside of her friend Hillary Whitney. Through flashback, her journey is used to tell the story of the enduring friendship she and her friend Hillary forged through their teenage years and adulthood, through the ups-and-downs of their careers, even after both falling for the same guy.
