Widower Jeff Bridges, who lost his FBI agent wife in a terrorist attack, moves with his son to the leafy suburb of Arlington Road and soon makes friend with neighbours Tim Robbins and Joan Cusack. But Bridges also lectures in terrorist theory and there's something about his neighbours that matches facts and theories he's researched. As he begins investigating, both his life and that of his sons are in danger in Mark Pellington's superior conspiracy thriller.
