Director Marek Kanievska's debut film stars Rupert Everett as Guy Bennett, first seen in old age in his Moscow flat talking to American journalist Betsy Brantley about what made him become a spy for the Russians. The film then switches to Bennett's life at public school, where ruthless competitiveness and cruelty are the order of the day and where the teenager learns his first lessons about what life holds in store.
