David Naughton and Jenny Agutter star in director John Landis's classic horror-comedy. Two young Americans, David and Jack are viciously attacked by an animal while backpacking on the Yorkshire Moors. Only David survives. As he recovers from his injuries in a London hospital, he forges a mutual attraction with sympathetic nurse Alex. But he also suffers nightmares, as well as hallucinatory visits from Jack's gore-slicked ghost, who warns him that he will become a werewolf at the next full moon. Jack's corpse goes on to say that David must avoid this at all costs, and must therefore kill himself. Unfortunately, David ignores this advice... When the film is scary, it's absolutely terrifying, and when it's funny, it's hilarious; and the Oscar-winning special effects remain genuinely horrific. Also featuring Brian Glover as a belligerent Yorkshireman; and a very early appearance from Rik Mayall.
