In an update of the 1966 Lewis Gilbert version, Jude Law plays the eponymous Alfie, transposed to Manhattan and working as a chauffeur in Charles Shyer's film.
His conquests include older woman Liz, lonely Nikki and Lonette, his best friend's girl. But he begins to learn bitter truths about himself and the way he treats women and, by the end of the film, discovers a degree of humility. Also starring Renee Taylor.
