A Day to Remember (1953)

Donald Sinden, Stanley Holloway and Bill Owen star in director Ralph Thomas's comedy drama. The darts team of the Hand and Flower pub in London are off to France on a day trip to Boulogne. Among the group is Jim, who is worried that his girlfriend plans to leave him; Shorty, a loner who hopes to join the Foreign Legion; woman-chasing Charley; and Stan, an entrepreneur who wants to smuggle black-market watches back to the UK. When they land, Jim goes to pay his respects to a fallen comrade and meets Martine, a young woman he first met when she was a girl, eight years earlier during the Second World War; it's not long before he finds himself falling in love. And the others in the team are also in for a memorable day.
