Da Ali G Show is an Entertainment programme.
Da Ali G Show
First seen on Channel 4's The Eleven O'Clock Show in 1998, Ali G was a spoof "voice of da yoof", created by satirical comedian Sacha Baron Cohen. The character was further developed with Ali G's own show on Channel 4, before spinning him out for the film Ali G Inadahouse: The Movie, released in 2002.
Ali, the leader of the West Staines Massiv, had a bold interviewing style. In the TV shows, Cohen used him to interview religious and political figures, celebrities and so on, often feigning a misunderstanding of the topic being discussed, either to embarrass the interviewee or to get him or her to agree to an extraordinary insult or inaccuracy.
Prominent interviewees included former British Labour MP Tony Benn, former Conservative MP Neil Hamilton, astronaut Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin, footballer David Beckham, fashion designer Tomasz Starzeweski, TV presenter Gail Porter, Pulp singer Jarvis Cocker, millionaire Donald Trump, magician Paul Daniels and former adult-film actress Jenna Jameson.
Late in 2007, Cohen announced he was retiring Ali G - along with his other character Borat - as the public were too familiar with them.
