Betty Thomas directs this part-live action comedy sequel, which continues the adventures of the Chipmunks: a trio of pre-teen, talking CGI rodents with a penchant for high-pitched close harmony singing. This time around, the lads must enrol in school when their human friend Dave is hospitalised following an accident. In addition to bearing the unwelcome attention of bullies, they also discover that the school's music department is threatened by financial cuts. They are eager to help raise funds to save the music courses, but their attempts to do so are hampered by a group of female chipmunks, the Chipettes, who are managed by the Chipmunks' sworn enemy Ian.
