Tony persuades the police to reopen the case of convicted child-killer Maggie Thomas, enlisting Laura, one of his students, to help probe her disturbed psyche - much to Carol's dismay. Events take a sinister turn when Laura's best friend is abducted, and as Tony and Carol investigate, an increasingly unbalanced and isolated Maggie takes desperate action.
