The true story of the relationship between Rudyard Kipling and his son John (Jack).
On the outbreak of the First World War Jack was keen to join up, but his poor eyesight meant that he was rejected. Rudyard then pulled strings with his powerful friends to get his son on a commission in the Irish Guards. After six months training, Jack went into battle, only to go missing on his first full day in action.
Kipling was forced to examine his support for the war and its cost - the life of his son.
