Socialite Lady Lucy Angkatell worries about her family guests arriving for the weekend, because they all loathe each other. She invites Hercule Poirot as a distraction, but he soon finds himself at work when philanderer John Christow is discovered dying by the swimming pool, with his wife holding a gun. But who shot him? It is not long before Poirot realises that he is up against one of his trickiest adversaries yet.
