Ugly House to Lovely House with George Clarke: Berkshire

Architect Ed Lipton renovates a house for a couple who moved in nine years ago for £220,000, but with two young sons are fast outgrowing the property and cannot afford to move. Ed's bold ideas are held up by planning problems and once the build starts, Rachel and James agree to move out so progress can be quicker, but it has to be completed in just eight weeks. Knocking down the garage and replacing it with a dramatic, double-height extension to give the living space a real sense of drama is one of the potential solutions, although the budget of £60,000 is set to test Ed's skill to the limit
