The Orgreave StoryThe former coking plant at Rotherham in South Yorkshire became synonymous with conflict during the miners' strike, when miners clashed with police in one of the most notorious moments of the 1984 dispute. An inquiry is under way into the events of that day. But now, the sounds heard on the site are of a high street being created from scratch and the building of thousands of new homes, on the edge of the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre. Sean Farrington finds out how it works, whether it is benefiting local people and if this is a model for other parts of the UK.
