Fifth Pan-African Congress - Manchester October 1945: First of three programmes in which Frances Stonor Saunders explores meetings which had huge significance beyond their four walls. The Manchester meeting brought the issue of African Independence firmly to the political agenda. Attended by intellectuals and future leaders, including Jomo Kenyatta, Kwame Nkrumah and Hastings Banda, it brought together a group of revolutionaries who went on to change the world.
