Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends

Directed by
Geoffrey O'Connor

Louis Theroux takes us on a journey of weirdness as he goes in search of various experiences that others enjoy, and many think are strange.

He has an incredible knack of totally absorbing himself in the particular challenge he has set himself. He is best known for his total adaptation to his new environment and making the people around him look strange, without letting them know that they're being portrayed in a bad light.

He has covered various topics ranging from a search into Enlightenment, where he followed the path that millions of westerners take each year on a desperate search of enlightenment, and speaks to westerners that have made this life more permanent. He has joined a swinging party and delved into the habits of these people that think sleeping with each other's partners is the road to take to obtain a perfect marriage. He has joined the subculture of extreme body builders in America to discover if he's got what it takes to become a super-fit, ultra-healthy 300Ib athlete. He's also visited a group of white people that are opposed to South Africa's new regime of multi-racial democracy, and are determined to build communities for whites only. He's even spent time with the Ku Klux Klan as they made plans to improve their public image!

Nothing is too outrageous or taboo for Louis, in fact the more taboo and outrageous the more likely he is to investigate.
