The second series of the programme exploring the background to current conflicts examines the history of state intervention. The first episode focuses on the decade after the Cold War, an era marked by historic events such as Nelson Mandela's release from prison, the USA's retreat from Somalia, the Rwandan genocide, Nato's intervention in Kosovo in 1999, and the Srebrenica massacre in 1995.
