In May 2020, File on 4 reported on the medics who were fighting daily for the survival of Covid patients in intensive care units. Recording themselves on their smartphones, nurses and doctors documented hour-by-hour the struggle to keep patients alive in the most extraordinary circumstances. Eight months on, reporter Jane Deith revisits some of those doctors and nurses to find out how they themselves survived the biggest challenge of their careers. What have they learned, both about themselves and about the health service they've dedicated themselves to. And when they recorded their original diaries, did they envisage they'd be where they are now in battle against the pandemic?
