Series 2, episode 6

This episode of the acclaimed police documentary series - which has put cameras where they've never been before in a police documentary - follows the stories of prolific offenders, those who defend them and the officers who investigate them. Detective Cathie Layton and legal rep Brett Jones have known each other for more than 20 years. Once they worked alongside each other in the police; now they face each other on opposite sides. Brett is called to the police station to represent one of Luton's most prolific burglars, one of his regular clients. He's clear on his role: 'If you are a good criminal, you always want to get off. The police aren't our friends... They do their job and I do my job. I know how they work. I've worked on that side. I'll do my best on this side.' This is the first time DC Layton has dealt with his client and as she takes him into the interview Brett advises him to offer 'no comment'. Who will win the game of police cat and mouse?
