Gino's Italian Escape: Hidden Italy: Lombardia

Gino D'Acampo continues his exploration of Italy as the locals know it, meeting the people who keep age-old traditions alive. One of Italy's largest northern regions, Lombardia - also known as Lombardy - borders Switzerland and is known for its breathtaking mountains and picturesque towns. This is Italy's lake district where, in Lago di Como, holiday homes can cost up to 38 million euros. At Harry's Bar on the lake, Gino seeks the secret to their most famous drink - the bellini. He reveals the secret ingredient of the cocktail and comes up with some simple appetisers to accompany it. Just a few miles up the shore are a group of amateur fishermen who still fly fish on the lake. Gino is lucky enough to be here during the agone breeding season, when the deep water fish come to shore for only 15 days a year. Our host gets his tackle out and fishes for his own supper, which he prepares at the water's edge.
