A Taste of Britain: Somerset

Food programme exploring specialities from around Britain. Janet Street-Porter and Brian Turner visit Somerset. Setting off from Ham Hill, they come face to face with bison and wild boar at Wooden Top Farm. Brian grills wild boar fillet with roasted beetroot and cumin at Somerset's highest point. Hestercombe Garden is Janet's next stop, where she explores three eras of landscape gardening, including the magnificent design collaboration of Edward Lutyens and Gertrude Jekyll. The White Post pub is home to chef Brett Sutton who prepares a dish of local lamb and black garlic for Janet, suitable fuel for a visit to the Haynes Motor Museum, where Brian and Janet revisit their own car history. The celebration cook is hosted in the orchard of Perry's Cider, where Brian prepares a traditional dish of baked apples with cider caramel sauce.
