Drama-documentary depicting the Dutch painter's life using his own words as chronicled in 18 years of letters. Presented by Alan Yentob, with Benedict Cumberbatch playing Vincent and Jamie Parker his brother Theo, who received the correspondence, the story follows the artist's travels through Holland, Belgium, England and France, his religious zeal, the development of his artistic skill and the depression that plagued him for years until he committed suicide in 1890
