When Salty the dockside diesel develops engine trouble he worries he will be sent away from the docks./Percy overhears some workmen talking and concludes that the Fat Controller is leaving the railway, much to the shock of the other engines./The bigger engines tease Edward for being old and unreliable, especially Gordon./Percy is to take the Mayor to the Sodor Search and Rescue Centre to celebrate their one-thousandth rescue, but jealous Diesel wants the job and sends Percy to an old quarry./Emily is given the special job of transporting a giant globe, but it comes off her flatbed and soon she's chasing it all over Sodor./Skiff thinks he sees a mermaid and gets himself and the Fat Controller into trouble at sea when he takes off to look for her.
