The Nanny

Fran Fine (Fran Drescher) is a whining street-wise young Jewish woman who comes from Queens. Life isn't going too well for her at the beginning of this series; her boyfriend has dumped her for someone else and, due to this, has been fired from her job as a bridal consultant in her boyfriend's shop.

However things turn around for her when she stumbles across another job as a door-to-door cosmetic salesperson. While selling her wares in Manhattan, she knocks on the door of the wealthy English and widowed Broadway Producer, Maxwell Sheffield (Charles Shaugnessy). Here she is mistaken to be applying for the nanny position, and she soon convinces Maxwell that she would be ideal as a nanny for his three children; Maggie (Nicholle Tom), Brighton (Benjamin Salisbury and Grace (Madeline Zima). With her offbeat nurturing and no-nonsense honesty, Fran soon touched Maxwell, and his children and by giving them a touch of 'Queens logic' took them from their previous prim-and-proper lifestyles and helped them become a healthy and happy family.

As well as looking after, and being a treasured confidant, to the children she very quickly becomes great friends with the household's proud butler Niles (Daniel Davis), who watches on with intrigue as he recognizes Fran's special gift at bringing family warmth back into the house and levels all problems with his quick wit. Another of Niles' favourite pastimes is undermining Maxwell's socialite business partner, C.C. Babcock (Lauren Lane), in their perpetual game of one-upmanship.

Unfortunately not all is roses in Fran's new life. She has developed quite a crush on Maxwell, who has reciprocated the feelings, however C.C., who views Fran with a mixture of scepticism and jealousy, has her own personal plans for Maxwell and feels Fran is getting in the way.

However you'll have to watch and find out whether they do get together or not.
