Jabberwocky (1977)

Directed by
Terry Gilliam

This Terry Gilliam's film is loosely based on Lewis Carroll's poem.

Dennis Cooper (Michael Palin) is the son of a very poor barrel-maker and after his father's death he soon finds that he is mistaken for a true prince and in line for the hand of a princess (Deborah Fallender). However her hand is only available if he takes his 'vorpal sword in hand' and can avoid, 'the jaws that bite, the claws that catch' and kill the Jabberwock.

This is a medieval tale with Pythonesque humour, which makes it well worth a look.
