Former EastEnders actress Lucy Speed joins the cast as DC Stevie Moss, who brings a breath of fresh air to CID with her positive and lively outlook - though she manages to upset Mickey on her first day by stealing his parking space. Her first case involves a professional footballer who is forced to admit he is gay after his closet lover is run over in a hit-and-run incident involving his fiancee. Suspicion falls on the player's manager Ernie Rosen, who also happens to be his prospective father-in-law and anxious to avoid the shame of a scandal in the family, but Sally uncovers evidence to suggest he is covering for someone even closer to home
