Final episode of the Nordic mystery thriller. Seven years after the disappearance of her daughter Josefine, police investigator Eva Thornblad is still trying to come to terms with her grief. At the time it was widely believed that Josefine drowned in the nearby Silverhojd Lake, but Eva knows in her heart that someone took her child on that fateful day. Then, just as a young boy goes missing in the Silverhojd forest, Eva returns to attend her father's funeral. Taking part in the search for the missing child, she soon finds herself revisiting the dark mystery which still haunts her. In the concluding episode, Eva returns to Silverhojd to save the children but is taken prisoner by Gerda and Nicklas. When she tells Nicklas that she is his sister he lets her go and convinces his mother to stop the demolitions. Eva is reconciled to her daughter's inevitable death and brings her back to the forest where Josefine is transformed into a tree - and Eva can finally be parted from her.
