Storyville: The Fight

Documentary about arguably the most famous boxing match of all time. More than 90,000 people were in New York's Yankee Stadium, and a global audience of millions tuned in on their radios, as Joe Louis, a courteous black man symbolising the New Deal and the free world, met Max Schmeling from Hitler's Germany. But the film gives a lie to the stereotypes - Schmeling was no picture-book Nazi and the sad fate of Joe Louis bears reflection.
