Storyville: The Beauty Academy of Kabul

Documentary about an unusual and moving cultural exchange, as a group of American and Afghan-American beauticians and hairdressers go to Kabul to teach the latest techniques. So overwhelming was the response, that when the Academy opened its doors a lottery system had to be instituted to award places. The film not only plays witness to the growing self-confidence of Afghan women but also tells about their previous desperate situation.
