The BBC's mammoth coverage will follow the celebrations of Her Maj’s 60 year reign and the lavish events set to mark the occasion.

George Entwistle, Director BBC Vision says: “A series of epic events in 2012 will make this an unprecedented year for the country and for the BBC. Our coverage will aim to bring the whole nation together and deliver all the excitement of having a front row seat for every moment.”

The Jubilee itself will consist of the Diamond Jubilee concert, organised by Gary Barlow and the Beeb and featuring the likes of Shirley Bassie, Jessie J, JLS and plenty more. There will also be a Royal Procession at St Paul’s Cathedral on the final day of the Jubilee, Tuesday 5th June.

The BBC has also, rather bizarrely, decided to shoehorn Rolf Harris into the proceedings and will be screening a special programme entitled ‘Rolf Paints... The Diamond Jubilee’ where everyone’s favourite Aussie will  ‘be throwing open the doors of his specially constructed ‘Pop Up Art School’ to artists of all ages and abilities as, for one day only, they set up easel and pick up their brushes to pay tribute to our Queen’. For some reason or another he will also be joined by ‘amateur artist’ (and amateur presenter) Anneka Rice who will transform the venue into the ‘Pop Up Art School’.

Continuing in the artistic vein, there will be a Culture Show special – ‘How To Paint A Queen’, which examines the iconography and portraiture of Kings and Queens of England from Elizabeth I right up to Elizabeth II.

And if you haven’t already tried to gouge your own eardrums out after the delights of the Diamond Jubilee Concert, then fear not – Gary Barlow and Andrew Lloyd Webber are here to give you all the motivation you’ll need, in ‘Gary Barlow: On her Majesty’s Secret Service’. In a programme that will inevitably be less fun than the title suggests, we follow Barlow and Webber’s efforts to create a special song to celebrate the Jubilee featuring artists from the UK and Commonwealth.

Will you be tuning into the BBC’s gargantuan TV coverage? Or is the Jubilee, for you, better spent in the pub?
