Director Terry Gilliam's period fantasy adventure tale is reasonably solid, spurred on by good performances from Heath Ledger (pictured, left) and Matt Damon (pictured, right). They play folklore collectors and bickering brothers Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm. While the script and CGI effects may leave a little to be desired, the brothers' tetchy dialogue lifts things nicely, and the film definitely improves as it progresses.
While travelling from village to village, pretending to protect townsfolk from enchanted creatures, the brothers encounter a real sorceress in an enchanted wood. The sorceress has terrifying powers and the brothers are put to the test. They may know all manner of tricks, but are they pure enough of heart to break the witch's spell and save the damsel?
