Groundhog Day meets Call of Duty in this pulse-pounding sci-fi actioner starring Tom Cruise.
Military media relations officer Bill Cage (Tom Cruise) hasn’t seen a minute of real action, but when aliens mount a devastating attack on Earth, he is thrown on to the front-line to battle the onslaught. Cage is almost instantly wiped out, but when he wakes up back where he was a day earlier, he realises he is in a time loop, destined to re-enter the fight again and again.
With the help of decorated Sergeant Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt), he sets about honing his tactics and skills until he can defeat the formidable Mimics once and for all.
While the idea of a time-loop narrative isn’t a new one, Edge of Tomorrow instils it with enough energy, wit and excitement to feel as fresh and thrilling as any recent action blockbuster. Cruise shows why, even as he enters his 50s, he’s still one of Hollywood’s go-to action men with a ruggedly charming performance and forms an appealing partnership with the steely but beautiful Blunt.
