This satirical comedy tells the story of the life of Megan Williams (Natasha Lyonne). Megan is your typical teenager and coming of age in everything except a typical fashion.
Her very normal suburban life is filled with her friends, cheerleading pom-poms and rah-rah enthusiasm. However this is about to change when her very straight-laced parents suspect that their litle girl could be displaying lesbian tendencies.
Now in a complete panic, Megan's parents ask the help of her friends and the critical guidance of the homosexual rehabilitation facility "True Directions" in order that they may be able to mount an intervention.
Mike, a True Directions counselor, heads this intervention and before Megan knowes it she has been whisked off to learn how to become the perfect, normal, heterosexual woman.
The facility is run under the strict eyes of the homophobic manager, Mary J Brown (Cathy Moriarty). Megan gets on with her 'deprogramming' so she can get home as quickly as possible to her normal life of boyfriends, football games, and her love.. cheerleading.
Unfortunately though, she resists the first step of the "rehabilitation" process which is to admit to her gay status, as she really doesn't beleive that she is 'that way inclined'.
However with the arrival of Graham Eaton (Clea DuVall), a sexy tomboy, comes a charming twist of fate as Megan realizes that she may well have found her true direction in life, and in the most unlikely of places!!
