Set in the glam-rock daze of the early 1970s, Neil Jordan's black-comedy fantasy drama is decidedly left-field and an acquired taste.
Cillian Murphy (pictured) plays Patrick "Kitten" Braden, an Irish transvestite orphan who is determined to track down his mother who moved to London. As he trawls through the capital, he becomes embroiled in a number of outrageous misadventures.
He gets involved with a rock group, is accused of being an IRA bomber and even has to resort to prostitution to make ends meet before finding out the truth behind his birth. The film also stars Liam Neeson, Stephen Rea, Ruth Negga, Brendan Gleeson and Gavin Friday.
