Words and MusicNational Mills weekend in the UK takes place later this month on May 13 and 14, so today's sequence of poetry, prose and music explores mills of different kinds. Jane Horrocks and Art Malik read from George Eliot's The Mill on the Floss, Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South and Tennyson's poem The Miller's Daughter, as well as extracts from Charlotte Bronte, Hilaire Belloc and William Blake. Music includes Stephen Sondheim's The Miller's Son, and Judith Kerr and John Faulkner's Miller's Song from Bagpuss.
