Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller star in writer-director Stephen Chbosky's romantic drama.
It's 1991 and Charlie has just started his first year of high school in Pittsburgh. While his bookishness hampers friendship with his fellow freshmen, he's saved from complete isolation by his empathetic English teacher, Mr Anderson, who takes him under his wing. However, Charlie really lucks out when music-obsessed step-siblings Sam and Patrick, who are in their final year, recognise a kindred spirit and take him into their circle of friends.
And so begins the year in which Charlie discovers romance, broadens his horizons with regard to sex, sexuality, drink and drugs, and confronts some of the darker episodes from his past. Also starring Mae Whitman as the punk who takes a shine to Charlie; Adam Hagenbuch as the lad who introduces him to some illicit delights; and Johnny Simmons as Brad, Patrick's boyfriend.
