Audie Murphy, Stephen McNally, Faith Domergue and Susan Cabot star in director Don Siegel's western. Having lost his father during the murderous theft of his mining rights by claim jumpers, gunslinger Luke Cromwell, aka The Silver Kid, agrees to become deputy to the local lawman, Marshal Lightning Tyrone. Tyrone is sick of the claim jumpers' illegal activities, and The Silver Kid sees his opportunity to legally take revenge against the people who killed his father. Along the way to the titular shootout, the two men meet the sultry Opal Lacy, whom Tyrone falls for, and the gamine Jane 'Dusty' Fargo, who catches the Kid's eye. But one of these women will prove to be a treacherous match... Also featuring Lee Marvin in his first credited big-screen appearance.
