Trusadh - An Tinneas Tuiteamach (Epilepsy)

The largest single repopulation policy undertaken in Scotland, due to the 'land for heroes' initiative adopted shortly after the First World War. Between 1923 and 1924, 43 families from Harris and 22 from Point in Lewis, made the journey across the Minch to Skye after the Board of Agriculture purchased 60,000 acres from the Macleod of Dunvegan estate. They made the empty region their home with 69 crofts created in the three townships built by pioneers - Portnalong, Fernilea and Fiscavaig. A year later, more families from Harris moved to the village of Satran. This documentary recounts stories of an historic journey and lives lived less ordinary. In Gaelic with English subtitles.
