Papa Smurf (Jonathan Winters), Smurfette (Katy Perry) and the gang are in trouble. The tiny blue creatures have been hounded out of their magical village by the evil wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) and have ended up in Central Park.

Their inquisitive, joyful ways wreak havoc when they land themselves in the home of Patrick Winslow (Neil Patrick Harris). Disbelieving Winslow is thrust into the battle between the Smurfs and Gargamel, who has also found his way to New York, and the blue beings must find their way back to their village in magical Smurfland and rid themselves of Gargamel forever.

A flurry of family fun, The Smurfs is slapstick childhood humour at its most brash. Never daring to stray into entertainment for adults, Mum and Dad will still be wowed by the animation, which is fast and enthralling.

A fun introduction for children who haven't experienced the Smurfs phenomenon.
