In this chilling thriller, Nicole Kidman plays Anna, a widow for ten years who has finally found new happiness with Joseph (Danny Huston).
Things are going well until a ten-year-old boy, Sean (Cameron Bright) appears on the scene, declaring he is the reincarnation of her dead husband. Anna is convinced that Sean is telling the truth by the knowledge he has, while Joseph, her mother Eleanor and all around her remain sceptical, certain that something is terribly wrong.
Birth, released in 2004, is set in a series of airless Upper West Side interiors and stark landscapes. With twists and turns, Jonathan Glazer's taut, chiller maintains a sense of strange anticipation, while Kidman's haunting performance is stand-out.
