Mark Wahlberg stars in Antoine Fuqua's thriller as Bob Swagger, an ex-Special Ops sharpshooter.
Called out of retirement by Col Isaac Johnson to help foil an assassination attempt on the President, he finds himself framed as the assassin. Injured and on the run, he can only rely on Sara Fenn, the girlfriend of his ex-partner, and FBI agent Nick Memphis, who's come across evidence of the conspiracy. The three now have to evade Johnson and his cohorts in a race to prove their innocence in this intelligent action movie.
Although the movie received mixed reviews upon release, it proved to be a box office success, thanks largely to impressive DVD and rental figures. This success gives a clear indication as to what kind of film Shooter really is, an enjoyable action thriller which was never going to trouble the Oscar voters but is a perfectly fine choice for a Saturday night in front of the tele.
