What to watch on Tuesday, May 20th, 2008

The exclusive fright fest Living with the Dead continues on LIVING this week. This chilling series features terrorised families from across the country who all claim to be sharing their homes with ghosts and spirits. Helping the families quell the unrest which is blighting their lives are psychic mediums Johnnie Fiori and Ian Lawman - who has communicated with the Kray twins - and paranormal investigator Mark Webb.
This week's episode sees the team travel to Worcestershire, and the haunted home of singer and actress Toyah Willcox. Toyah's house is 80 yards from Pershore Abbey - which dates back to the seventh century - and it is thought that its cellar was once used to store the abbey's food. The abbey's history is steeped in controversy: its one time owner, Duke Alphere, lived a life of crime, and legend holds he was eventually eaten alive by vermin. The behaviour of the monks at the abbey is also suspect - letters from the 15th century suggest they indulged in drinking, fighting and gambling, and one of their number even committed murder. Perhaps due to its links with the abbey, the strongest presence in Toyah's house is felt in the cellar, and Toyah herself has witnessed a shadowy figure in the area on many occasions.
Toyah also reports seeing shadowy figures in other rooms, and recalls one terrifying night when she woke up suddenly to see her bedroom door handle turning and the door slowly opening. The attic light often turns itself on in the middle of the night, ornaments have been sent flying across rooms by unseen forces, and Toyah also reports strange smells throughout the house. In an attempt to drive out the dark forces that lurk in the house, Toyah - joined by her celebrity friends Rula Lenska and Ruth Madoc - enlists the team to perform a séance.
